Place Plan Note - Station Offset Precision Setting

Question:

When placing a Plan Note and displaying the Offset value from the active geometry, where is the precision controlled for the offset output?

Answer:

The offset precision is controlled by the Linear Precision.  If you go to File > Project Options > Precision, the precision value is displayed but unable to be set because it is controlled by the Design File Settings.  Therefore, in order to change the precision go to Settings > Design File > Working Units and adjust the Linear Units > Accuracy.

Question:

In previous versions, if I ran the Merge Into Master command on a reference file that contained a survey field book, the field book would be copied into the current DGN. Beginning in version V08.11.09.872, only the graphics are copied, and not the field book.

Answer:

Beginning in the V08.11.09.872, a change was made to MicroStation (platform) "Copy" command, and the "Merge Into Master" command so they only copy graphics by default, and do not copy the civil model data, thus creating fieldbooks. To enable the "Copy" and "Merger Into Master" tools to create survey field book data, set the following configuration variable: CIVIL_SURVEY_RETAIN_SURVEY_ON_COPY=1.

Question:

Is there a way for InRoads toolbars to be docked in the MicroStation window?  If only MicroStation is loaded the tools are not shown, but if InRoads is opened, the toobars will be available.

Answer:

Yes.  Instead of using the native InRoads Tools > Customize to open the InRoads toolbars and try to dock them, go though the MicroStation Tools > Tool Boxes and look for the InRoads specific tool boxes to toggle on.  Once the desired Tool Boxes are toggled on you can dock them within MicroStation.

Power Rail Overhead Line licensing issue with comma decimal separator

Question:

After launching Power Rail Overhead Line, I get the following licensing error when I try to access a Rail Overhead Line command: "Until you reconnect to the licensing server and activate. %s will operate in 15 minute time out mode."

Answer:

This issue is being caused when the Windows Regional settings have a comma defined as the decimal separator instead of a period. A defect (535822) has been filed to correct this issue, but until it is fixed, users can set the decimal separator to a period.

This video demonstrates how to troubleshoot when the existing ground does not show up as you cut the Cross Sections of your corridor.

You can try to fix it by detaching the terrain reference from the 3D model, and re-attaching it to the 2D model.
